Practical Behaviors About Money - The Money Jar Technique

You don't really need 8 physical jars, they can be 8 different bank accounts, for example. They are labelled as follows with the percentage of your wages...

  1. basic needs - 40%
  2. taxes- 15%
  3. debt - 10%
  4. emergency - 5%
  5. investment - 10%
  6. play - 10%
  7. generosity/tithing - 5%
  8. education - 5%

The above percentages work for any amount of money earned, you just divide it up as shown above.
