What Is Intermittent Fasting

What is intermittent fasting? Basically, it's the idea of eating for a certain period of time, then fasting for a period of time. There are many variations of this fast.

This proven ancient health technique gives optimal function of our mind, brain, hormones and the whole body.

I've outlined my two intermittent fasting favorites below...


16:8 Intermittent Fast

  • in the 16 hour window, you don't eat (14 to 15 hours for women)
  • in the 8 hour window, you eat, maybe two, three or even four meals

You can drink low-caloric drinks during the fast. I recommend plenty of water as it hydrates and staves off hunger pangs and cravings.

Example 1 - Start your fast at 8pm, after dinner. Sleep. Start eating again at noon.

Example 2 - Eat breakfast and lunch. Start your fast at 3pm. Start eating again at 7am.


5:2 Intermittent Fast Diet

  • any 5 days of the week, you eat normally
  • any 2 days of the week, you fast

On your fasting days, reduce your calorie intake to a quarter of your daily needs, about 600 for males, 500 for females.

I recommend drinking plenty of water during the fast as it hydrates and staves off hunger pangs. Low-caloric drinks are also acceptable.

Example 1 - you fast on Monday and Tuesday. Eat the other five days.

Example 2 - you fast on Monday and Friday. Eat the other five days.
